About

My name is Linda Newman. I am a self-taught ceramicist based in the West of Scotland. I have a background in Interior Design and over the past few years I decided to teach myself a new skill, which I have been incredibly lucky to do, with the help of other highly skilled ceramicists. They have graciously shared their pottery journey and impressive making skills via social media. Without this generosity I would never have been able to accomplish what I do now. It has been a frustrating and tiring journey at times but also an utter joy to be able to make. I have uncovered a passion within me that I didn’t know existed and my hope is to one day give back to aspiring potters what I have been so incredibly lucky to have access to. In the meantime, I will continue to create and make.

Ultimately clay is just mud, it is nature, combine these elements and beautiful things can be created. The tricky bit is in the middle, learning how to process and transform the mud into something functional and aesthetically pleasing. My journey is only beginning, the learning of this craft is beyond endless.

I hope my work brings joy to whoever owns it.
